A Perspective on Change From Betty MyersWhen reflecting on the dynamics of "change" and how individuals and organizations manage change to encourage growth, I often think of the wise philosopher who said, "There is nothing permanent except change." I am sure, however, that in 500 B.C., Heraclitus could not envision the amount of change that we have had the pleasure (and frustration) of personally experiencing during the technology revolution of the twentieth century. ...automobiles, jet planes, space exploration, ice makers, television, satellites, microwaves, computers, lasers, organ transplants, telecommunications, the internet... and the list goes on. If you're like most people, you look at these significant advances as part of our daily lives, seeing many as time savers that we "couldn't live without." But we must also acknowledge that such tremendous change has increased the demands on each of us to do more and produce faster. That is why I founded Kaleidosystems. According to the dictionary kaleidoscope means "anything that shifts continually." The definition of system is "a group or combination of things unified to make a whole." By combining both into the company name, it truly reflects what we do. |
